he had to admit; he'd really pushed his teammates too far. the soccer team was nearing a game against their rival school, and they needed to step up the game. the vice captain proposed that they should practice running for several days so their endurance is built up, then dribbling, but jirou had the last say. thankfully, someone knew how the rival school's soccer team acted, and began to play practice games while intimidating how they acted. call it cheating, but he thinks that it's a brilliant plan. in the middle of the game, when no one else suspects, the plan kicks in. he thought, sitting on a bench that was situated at the right edge of the soccer field. his plan wasn't in session, but some members already guessed and kept their mouths shut until he really revealed it- that was smart of them. jirou acted indifferent and insensitive towards people that said "we're tired! can we please stop, captain?" he is simply acting towards the best of the team, yet by looking at the people that were huffing and puffing as if they've forgotten their inhaler, he frowned, placing both hands firmly on his hips as he walked into the middle of the field.
"okay okay. i have to admit; i've been a little too harsh on you guys. so we aren't going to have any practice, but i request that you should read the plays and positions that i've printed out for you when we meet up for our next practice. is that clear?" he swore that he could hear a sigh of relief coming from every single person, but he shook that off and looked at everyone in the edge, watching them leave and taking the paper that he handed out to them. the new members mostly needed to read the positions to see which ones they are good at, and they should read at least a little bit of the plays so they have a general idea what the next practice is going to be about. it was after school, and the sun was still out. yikes. he was already sweating beads at the moment! back in america, his friends pushed on even if the captain was mean and ruthless. they wanted the best for their team, and these people wanted it too. i guess most japanese people just can't ignore the urge to say 'i give up' and flop on the ground like dead fishes. he thought, but he didn't dare to say it at loud.
he sat back down on the bench after the last person received the piece of paper he gave them, looking at the students that decided to sit around the field, and some playing side games such as "tag" and "capture the flag" on the field. he checked his watch and sighed, drinking some water out of the bottle that he unconscionably grabbed. "when is the day going to end?" he usually went home at 5:00 in the evening, and it was going to be thirty more minutes before the other clubs close shop. where were the interesting people?! they usually come out during this time as it is! well, he had to wait here for some reason, but he could feel as if someone was going to pop up and give him the day that he'll never forget.
